How To Install Microsoft Sharepoint Server 2007? Complete Guide lines

1. Install OS (Windows Server 2003 R2):
a.Give static IP
b.Enable Remote Desktop access
c.Remove Internet Explorer Enhanced Security
d.Install IIS with default options plus ASP.NET
2. Install SQL Server 2005:
i.Database Services
ii.Reporting Services
iii.Integration Services
iv.Workstation components
b.Use ”Default instance”
c.Service Account: use built-in System Account – Network Service
d.Authentication mode: mixed mode, sa pw (put your desired password)
e.Collation settings: default
f.Reporting server: install but do not configure the server
3. Install SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 (and reboot)
4. Log in to SQL Server Management Studio and open Properties on the server object.
b.Under Database Settings, Database default locations enter D:\Data\SQL for both Data and Log
5.Install Windows Workflow Foundation Runtime
6.Install SharePoint 2007 from \SharePoint 3.0 TR slipstreamed folder
a.License key: xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
b.Choose Advanced Options
c.    Server type: Complete…
d.    File location: default
e.    Feedback: No, thank you
Installation should run through. (If it does not, check that all “old” sites are still working properly and abort!) A reboot may be required
SharePoint 2007 should now be installed, but no 2007 sites have been created.
7.Configure IIS
a.Rename “Default Web Site” to Reporting Services and add host header reportingservices
b.Create new IIS web site for main SharePoint portal:
i. Description: SharePoint
ii. IP Address and Port Settings: default
iii. Path: %datadrive%\data\web sites\sharepoint, check Allow anonymous access
iv. Web Site Access Permissions: check Read and Run scripts
v. Open Properties – Home Directory and set Application Name to SharePoint
c.Create new IIS web site for SSP:
i.Description: SSP
ii.IP Address and Port Settings: IP Address and Port Settings: default IP, port 81, host header blank
iii.Path: %datadrive%\data\web sites\ssp, check Allow anonymous access
iv.Web Site Access Permissions: check Read and Run scripts
v.Web Site Access Permissions: check Read and Run scriptsInstall Windows Workflow Foundation Runtime
vi.Open Properties – Home Directory and set Application Name to SSP
8. Uninstall Windows Workflow Foundation Runtime
9. Install .Net Framework 3.0
(Open a command window and type the following:
* “C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\bin\prescan.exe” /all)
10. Run SharePoint 2007 Configuration Wizard (will suspend IIS)
a.Connect to a server farm: No, I want to create a new server farm
b.Specify Configuration Database Settings:
i.Database server: local server name
ii.Database name: default
iii.Username/password: domain’serviceaccount (normally domain\Sharepoint\)
c.Configure SharePoint Central Administration Web Application
i.Specify port number: 10000
ii.Configure Security Settings: NTLM (default)
*  This creates the SharePoint configuration database and provisions the Central Administration web site
11.Configure server farm (all changes under Central Admin – Operations):
a.Services on server: Configure and start all services for Single Server or Web Server for small server farms
i.Windows SharePoint Services Web Application
ii.Excel Calculation Services
iii.Office SharePoint Server Search
*    Check Use this server for indexing content and Use this server for serving search queries
*    Contact E-mail address: email address for site collection administrator
*    Service Account: domain\serviceaccount
*    Indexer Performance: Reduced
*    Leave rest default
iv.(Windows SharePoint Services Search)
*    Service Account: domain\serviceaccount
*    Leave rest defaults
b.Enable update queries: Data Retrieval Service, check Enable update query support
c.Outgoing email settings: Outgoing E-Mail Settings:
i.        Outbound SMTP server: name the smtp server
ii.        From address: e-site@domain name
iii.        Reply-to address: blank
d.Logging: Usage Analysis Processing:
i.        Check Enable logging
ii.        Check Enable usage analysis processing
e.Alternate Access Mappings, under Global Configuration
i.        Configure as appropriate
12. Extend Web Sites (repeat for SharePoint and SSP)
a.SharePoint Central Admin >> Application Management >> “Create or Extend Web Application” >> “Create New Web Application”
b.Select “Use existing IIS web site”, site name, then keep default selection of this site
c.Security configuration: Authentication Provider: NTLM, Allow Anonymous: Yes, Use SSL: No
d.Load Balanced URL: default
e.Application pool:
i.Create new application: Application Pool Name: SharePoint, Security account domain\serviceaccount
f.Database Name and Authentication: Database Server: default (should be local server name)
i.Database Name: WSS_Content for SharePoint, WSS_Content_SSP for SSP), Windows Authentication.
g.Search Server: local server name
13.    Create site collection (top-level web site):
g.    Web application: SharePoint
h.    Title: e-SiTe
i.    Description: xxx
j.    Web Site Address: Create site at this URL: (root)
k.    Primary Site Collection Administrator: technical admin
l.    Quota Template: No Quota
m.    Template Selection: Publishing, Collaboration Portal
14.    Configure site collection (all settings under Central Admin – Application Management):
g.    Web Application General Settings:
i.        Default Time Zone: GMT+5 Islamabad, Karachi, Tashkent
•         Leave the rest default
b.       Site use confirmation and deletion:
i.        Check Send e-mail notifications to owners of unused site collections
ii.        Check Automatically delete the site collection if use is not confirmed
•         Leave the rest default
15.    Configure root (portal) site (select Site Actions menu – Site Settings – Modify All Site Settings):
a.    Regional settings:
i.        Locale: Norwegian (this is to get correct regional settings and sorting)
ii.        Set your calendar: check Show week numbers in the Date Navigator
iii.        Subsite settings: check All sub-sites inherit these Regional Settings
b.    Site collection audit settings:
i.        Documents and items: check all boxes
16.    Configure Farm Shared Services (under Central Admin – Application Management):
a.    Select “Create or configure this farm’s shared services”, then “New SSP”
b.    SSP name: e-SiTeSharedServices, web application: SSP
c.    My Site Location: web application: SharePoint, relative URL: /mysite
d.    SSP Service Credentials: domain\serviceaccount
e.    SSP database: database server local server name, database name: e-SiTeSharedServices_DB, Windows Authentication
f.    Search database: database server local server name, database name: e-SiTeSharedServices_Search_DB, Windows Authentication
g.    Index Server: local server name
h.    All other values: default
17.    Configure portal search crawling schedule
a.    Go to Shared Services Administration (http://servername:81/ssp/admin) – Search Settings – Content Sources – Local Office SharePoint Server sites
b.    Under Crawl Schedules, create full schedule and incremental schedule
i.        Full: every day, 20 minute intervals
ii.        Incremental: every day, 5 minute interval
c.    Check Start Full Crawl
18.    Configure MySite settings

19.    Add banner to master page:
a.    Copy \e-site folder (containing banner images) to \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\IMAGES
b.    Open root site in SharePoint Designer
c.    Open _catalogs\masterpage\default.master
d.    Insert banner table code as first row within first <table> tag

d.    In “Sites” list, select “Settings” menu, then “List Settings”
e.    Select the “Division” and/or “Region” fields and make the required changes.
