Punjabi And English Poetry: Tere Bin Sanu Soneya – Besides You My Love

Tere Bin Sanu Soneya – Besides You My Love
koi hor nahio labbna – i will not find another
jo deve ruh nu sukun – who gives peace to my soul
chukke jo nakhra mera – and bear me

ve mai saare ghumm ke vekheya – i have gone and seen it all
amreeka , roos, malaysia – america, russia, malaysia
na kitte v koi fark c – there wasn’t any difference
har kise dee koi shart c – everyone had some condition

koi mangda mera c sama – some asked for my time
koi hunda surat te fida – some were fascinated with my face
koi mangda meri c vafa – some demanded my fidelity
na koi mangda meriyan bala – none wanted my demons

tere bin hor na kise – besides you no one else
mangni merian bala – will want my demons
tere bin hor na kise – besides you no one else
karni dhup wich chhan – shall shade me in the sun

jiven rukia si tun zara – (the) way you paused slightly
nahion bhulna main saari umar – i shan’t forget all my life
jiven akheya c akhan chura – you said, looking away
“rovenga sanu yaad kar” – “you shall weep in my memory”

hasseya c mai haassa ajeeb – i laughed a strange laugh
per tu nahi c hasseya – but you didn’t
dil wich tere jo raaz c – a secret you had in your heart
mainu tu kyon ni dasseya – why didn’t you tell me

tere bin sanu eh raz – besides you none shall tell this
kise hor nahion dasna – secret to me
tere bin peerh da ilaaj – besides you what druid
kis vaid kolon labbna – has the cure to my ills

milia c aajj mainu tera ik pattra – i found today a note of yours
likheya c jes ‘te tun sher varey shah da- on which you had scribbeled a varis shah couplet
paadh ke c ossnu hanju ik dulleya – upon reading which a teardrop fell
akhaan ‘ch band c hai raaz ajj khulleya – what was locked in eyes was revealed today

ki tere bin eh mere hanju – that other than you these tears of mine
kise hor nahio chumna – won’t be kissed by none else
ki tere bin eh mere hanju – that other than you these tears of mine
mitti wich rollna- will wither in the dust
